LAHORE: The golden principles of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah will have to be followed in letter and spirit for making Pakistan an Islamic welfare state in the real sense, said Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while felicitating the nation on 136th birthday of the founder of the country being celebrated on Tuesday.
“It is unfortunate that after lapse of 66 years, we are still far away from our destiny and could not prove our identity as a nation at international level for which the country was created,” he said.
In his message to the nation on the birthday of the Quaid-i-Azam, Shahbaz Sharif said: “Today, we are living as an independent nation. This freedom and identity is due to great Quaid who materialized the dream of Allama Iqbal.”
The Quaid-i-Azam was, no doubt, a man of character and no fear or greed could force him leave his mission. He said the Quaid-i-Azam is such a great personality that by following his golden principles, “we can rid the country of crisis.”
The Punjab chief minister said that Muhammad Ali Jinnah was one of the great personalities to whom Allah Almighty had selected for a special purpose. He said the Quaid-i-Azam did the job through his commitment and peaceful struggle, which Hindus and colonial rulers were not expecting. He said the Quaid-i-Azam not only provided freedom to the Muslims of India but also gave them the gift of a separate and unique country for leading a safe and successful life.
“Today we will have to renew this pledge that we will utilize all our energies for the bright future of the country by following the principles of Quaid-i-Azam,” he stressed.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the Muslim League had played a leading role in the creation of Pakistan under the leadership of the Quaid-i-Azam. He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), under the leadership of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, reiterates its pledge that it would not hesitate to offer any sacrifice for putting the country on the road to progress and prosperity and make it the Quaid’s Pakistan by utilizing all its energies for the elimination of corruption, poverty, electricity and gas load-shedding, lawlessness and unemployment.
The Punjab chief minister said the PML-N government in Punjab is pursuing a comprehensive program of making Pakistan a country of the Quaid and Iqbal. He said that various projects completed in a transparent manner during the last four-and-a-half years are a clear proof of the sincerity of his spirit to serve the masses.
Shahbaz Sharif said he earnestly considers that “if we want to achieve an honorable and dignified status in the comity of nations, we will have to march forward by adopting a course of action in the light of the ideals of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and this is the only way through which we can steer the country out of crisis and put it on the road to progress and prosperity.”
