PESHAWAR: A total of 220 teams from almost all universities across the country are participating in the two-day mega event, National University Technology Competition (NUTEC) 2013, which opened at the FAST National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES) campus here today (Saturday).
According to organizers, the talented students from different departments of universities are participating in 15 categories of contests at the NUTEC 2013, which is one of the mega events of its kind in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Overall, FAST-NUCES Peshawar is organizing this event for the fourth time.
“The purpose of this event is to close the gap between academia and industry as well as to provide opportunities for students from various universities to learn from each other and share their knowledge,” the release said. “Another objective is to promote the healthy activities for stimulating the creativity in students,” it added.
The 15 categories in which the participants are contesting include ad tech, e-gaming, short movies, global village, on-board circuit design, business case simulation, business plan competition, software projects exhibition, hardware projects exhibition, speed programming competition, computer science quiz competition, business quiz competition, electrical quiz competition and mathematic quiz competition.
“The event is being held to promote a positive image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular at the national level and of the country in general at the international level. The FAST-NUCES is bearing all expenses of the event from its own resources,” said the release. “A musical evening has also been arranged for Saturday as part of the even while the concluding ceremony will be held on Sunday,” it concluded.
