PESHAWAR: A senior police officer and his driver were killed in a hit-and-run attack while one person died in a blast in this capital city of Pakistan’s troubled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday.
In a hit-and-run attack, unknown gunmen shot dead the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) traffic and his driver in Faqirabad area of the city. According to media reports, the gunmen opened fire on DSP Amanullah and his driver Amjad when they were on their way to office on Dalazak Road. The dead bodies of the victims were subsequently shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital.
On the other hand, one person was killed in Mathra area of the city when an explosive device went off. According to police sources, the deceased was carrying explosive material with apparent intention to plant somewhere when the blast occurred.
