According to an official handout, the Punjab chief minister was talking to Iranian Consul General Muhammad Husain Bani Asadi, who called on the former here on Thursday. The matters of mutual interest, cooperation in various sectors and bilateral relations were discussed in the meeting.
Punjab Investment Board Vice Chairman Maratab Ali was also present during the meeting. Talking to the Iranian consul general, the Punjab chief minister said there are vast opportunities of investment in energy, infrastructure, transport and other sectors in Pakistan and Iranian investors should benefit from them.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that maximum facilities are already being provided to foreign investors while further steps would also be taken in this regard. He said that a meat processing complex has been set up in Lahore with the cooperation of Iran.
The Punjab chief minister stressed the need for increasing the volume of trade between Iran and Pakistan. He said that exchange of delegations between the two countries would help strengthen trade and economic relations. He said it is time to change the close fraternal relations between Iran and Pakistan into trade and economic ties and besides promoting cooperation in different sectors, full benefit should be taken from the experiences of each other.
