Punjab CM vows not to rest till rehabilitation of Balochistan quake victims

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has vowed not to rest content till complete rehabilitation of all Baloch brothers and sisters affected by the earthquake.

“All resources of the country including Punjab will be utilized for the rehabilitation of affected people. Jobs will be provided to all graduate youth of Awaran district,” he said while talking to the participants of a briefing, media persons and earthquake-affected people separately during visit to Awaran district of Balochistan.

According to an official handout, the Punjab chief minister and Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had reached Balochistan on the special direction of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. The two leaders travelled by a helicopter for one-and-a-half hours from Karachi to Awaran.

Shahbaz Sharif said the grief of Baloch people is the grief of all Pakistan and every family in Punjab is grieved over the loss of precious human lives due to earthquake. He said he has come to convey the sentiments of love and affection on behalf of the people of Punjab. He said the Punjab government has already sent a large consignment containing relief items for the affected people.

“We are ready to send everything as per their requirement. Besides various relief goods, thousands of tents are also being sent for the affected people from Punjab,” he said.

The Punjab chief minister said the natural calamities are a challenge both for the government and the people but such opportunity should be used to further move ahead. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is abroad, is in constant contact with the Balochistan government, and federal officers in connection with the rehabilitation of affected people and he will announce a special relief package within a day or two.

Shahbaz Sharif said the Pakistan Army has always rendered invaluable services for the peopled during natural calamities and also after recent earthquake. He said the army officers and personnel are reaching far-flung areas for assisting the affected people despite all hurdles and threats.

On the occasion, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said he has come to Balochistan people for conveying special message of the prime minister. He said the government will utilize all resources for the rehabilitation of the affected people.
