Maverick Report

Ambassador Richard OlsonISLAMABAD: On behalf of the people of the United States, US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson on Monday offered condolence on the martyrdom of two senior Pakistan Army officers along with a soldier in a terrorist attack in Upper Dir district near Pak-Afghan border on Sunday.

“Ambassador Olson, on behalf of the people of the United States, sends his deepest condolences for the deaths of Major General Sanaullah Niazi, whom the ambassador had the honor to meet personally, as well as Lieutenant Colonel Tauseef and Lance Naik Irfan Sattar,” said a press release issued by the US embassy here on Monday.

“The United States recognizes the sacrifices the people and military of Pakistan have made to combat terrorism,” the statement added.

It is, however, interesting to note that a huge majority (71 percent) of Pakistanis want Islamabad to quit the US war on terror.
