40% Pakistani youth like to go abroad: survey

youth_likes_to_go_abroad_survey copyISLAMABAD: Forty (40) percent of Pakistani youth say they would like to go abroad, according to a Gilani Research Foundation survey.

In the nationally representative sample of men and women under the age of 30 from across the four provinces was asked: “Would you like to go abroad?”

Responding to this question, 40 percent of the respondents said that they would like to go abroad whereas 59 percent said that they would not and one percent did not respond.

Interestingly, when the 40 percent youth willing to go abroad were asked about their favorite destination in terms of countries, Saudi Arabia was mentioned by around one-fourth.

The study, released by Gilani Foundation, was carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International, among a sample of 1,107 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country between July 21 and 27, 2013.

Error margin is estimated to be approximately ±2-3 percent at 95 percent confidence level.
