KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy’s biennial war game ‘Shamsheer-e-Behr V’ is going on after the opening session here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila accentuated the significance of this war game in the naval operational planning process for formulating new concepts and doctrines.
Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) Rear Admiral Kaleem Shaukat presented an overview of the war game outlining its objectives and concepts to be tried.
The chief of the naval staff expressed satisfaction in the realistic visualization of maritime scenario, in-depth analysis and precision in decision-making by force commanders, who presented their detailed plans.
Admiral Sandila emphatically referred to the importance of ensuring impregnable seaward defense and enhanced the relevance of Pakistan Navy towards emerging maritime security challenges. He said that Shamsheer-e-Behr V is basically a tri-service event but representation of relevant ministries will further facilitate refinement of various concepts to be validated during navy-wide field exercises before becoming part of naval operational plans.
Besides the Pakistan Navy, the event was attended by a large number of high-ranking officers from the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force and representatives of federal ministries.
