'Trekking Alone' -- a maiden travelogue by a young writer, Adnan Zahoor Awan -- has hit the stalls, providing readable stuff to those fond of picnics and travelling, especially odyssey.
In the 240-page book, the author has not only tried to configure each and every movement of his nine-day trip to the scenic Nathiagali, but also described the whole landscape, environment and way of life of the picturesque valley residents in simple words.
As is evident from the total days of trekking, the publication comprises of nine chapters, explaining each day's engagements. It could be a proper guide for all those aspiring for visit to Galiat area of Hazara -- the biggest division of Pakistan's North West Frontier Province that comprises almost 30 per cent population of the province.
By going through the book one can just imagine how beautiful is the valley and its thin pine forest mountains, cold water springs, waterfalls and above all the morning breeze. The book motivates those who have not been to the area.
Right from getting out of home early in the morning, the young author, banker by profession, has very tactfully described each and every movement of his lone long travel to the remote valley, stay in hotel, and then daily activities like ascending mountain peaks, taking pictures and recalling his memories while taking a breakfast.
Inspired by his illustrious father, Professor Dr Zahoor Ahmad Awan, a noted academician, columnist, researcher scholar and author of more than 60 Urdu, English and Hindko books and publications, Adnan has tried his level best to not only compile his feelings and memories, but also motivate and guide the tourists on how to have a trip to this virtual paradise on earth.
Adnan has dedicated the book to his father and extended acknowledgement to his pen pals. The travelogue vividly describes some interesting happenings and incidents that the authored faced during the trip, which enhance the reader's excitement to go through to the end.
The display of pictures of some beautiful views has added to the beauty of the book, which could be termed a gift by a young bank officer from the Walled City of Peshawar for those who are fond of adventures.
